Your Path to Success

December 9, 2019

Midterms are coming up for those around us and is the perfect time for de-stressing and relaxing before the final exam. But as the countdown to the final test occurs many may feel anxious or nervous. There are many ways for one to calm down and be prepared before the final day.

  1. Plan ahead. It’s important for you to know when you have your tests and understand what material you need to study before the day of the test. Study in advance and don’t cram or pull all nighters.

  2. Think positive. Don’t compare yourself to others. You do you. Focus on yourself rather than worrying over another person’s grades. Don’t think that you won’t be able to pass a test. If jittery, try breathing exercises before and after the test. Always remember to do your best.

  3. Limit phone usage and social media. As test days are coming up, it is important to set your priorities straight. Create your study environment and remove all distractions. Choose a method of studying that suits you. The pomodoro method consists of 30 minutes of active study, and about 5 to 10 minutes of break time. Remember to distinguish between the important and unimportant tasks.

  4. Make a study group. For some people, studying in groups can actually be productive. Make sure you are studying with people who actually care about studying. Remember that just because you’re friends with someone, it doesn’t make them good study buddies.

  5. Finally, don’t stress out. Have some time to destress. You should be studying but not overworking yourself. Have some days off. Go hang out with friends and go to parties. Make sure you have a good balance between your work life and your social life.

All these tips can help one prepare for midterms. Although it’s early, midterms are bound to come sooner or later. Hopefully these tips can help you ace them.
