Occasionally referred to as “Zoolapaloola,” “Zoopaloopa,” or “Loopzoop,” the music festival featured bands’ performances and clubs’ appealing galore. Twelve consecutive sets played on in the background, providing music from start to finish for the crowds of friends enjoying activities such as frisbee, free tie-dyeing, custom-designed henna, toss games, or simply sitting on picnic blankets and surrounding benches. Outside of the entry gate, a few food trucks, of which the ice cream was most popular, fulfilled the last of the party’s success. While dancers occupied the front of the stage, diverse genres of music played through the sunset, and attendees took countless memorable pictures.
On April 21st, 2017, in celebration of Earth Day, the second annual bash took place. Carey Diaz, a former senior from last year’s zoo magnet, had organized an outlet for student music groups to showcase their talent to the school. Musician Support Club partnered with Zoo Crew and Sierra Club to host this year’s gathering in the Agricultural Area once again, representing inclusivity beyond their own seven-miles-distant campus.
Proceeds from the $10 admission and zoo-themed merchandise went to support the Zoo Crew and Sierra Club, who will plan more exciting events in the theme of school spirit and environmental consciousness. If you’re looking to kick back and discover new music, come for Zoozapaloola next spring!
