The annual NHHS Chamber Music Concert is this Friday, April 21st at 7:00pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 at the door for general admission; elementary and middle school students get in free with student ID.
The chamber music concert is a contrast from the regular department band and orchestra concerts; it features a potpourri of duets, trios, and other small ensemble works. French trios by two composers of the early-twentieth century "les six" open the concert: Milhaud's Suite for violin, clarinet, and piano and Poulenc's Sonata for horn, trumpet, and trombone. The breadth of scope of the programming is evident: music from the baroque period to contemporary video game music is featured.
The large chamber ensembles are the highlight of the evening: the woodwind ensemble and brass choir will perform the culmination of their semester's work: music by Debussy and Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. The award-winning NHHS Indoor Drumline, currently in the middle of their competition season, will perform a standstill performance of their show to close off the concert.
See you there!
